I was starved for seven days: Actress Okereke recounts ordeal with kidnappers
Veteran Nollywood star, Cynthia Okereke who was abducted alongside her colleague, Clemson Cornel Agbogidi, last week has given an account of her ordeal while in captivity.
Okereke and Agbogidi were kidnapped on Friday, July 29, while they were returning from a movie set at Ozalla town in Enugu state.
In a video making the rounds on social media, Okereke while recounting her ordeal, thanked the fans, security agencies, colleagues, and other stakeholders who contributed to their release.
According to her, they were not fed anything during the seven days they spent in captivity.
She said: “My people, this is mama Cynthia Okereke, God is a faithful God and I have every reason to say Hallelujah in the land of the living. I didn’t know I have people and I have friends, good colleagues, people that care for me, people that can pray for me, verge for me and stand on my behalf.
“My BP is high but to God be all glory for all of you, your efforts, your prayers and your encouragement. Mama Cynthia is alive, I will act for you people and will continue to be acting for your people. Me, I will be a late comer there, for good one week, no water no food but today I say to God be all glory forever in Jesus name. God will bless all Nollywood for me.”
Emeka Rollas, the AGN president, had earlier revealed that the abductors established contact with the actors’ families to demand $100,000 in ransom payment.
He later disclosed that they were mocked by the abductors after offering N1.2 million instead.

‘You’ve missed your generation’s blessing’, Davido tells Abuja barber who called him 003
Afrobeat music giant, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido set social media ablaze on Sunday when he slammed an Abuja-based barber who is also a Wizkid fan, Callistus Okolie, with his Instagram handle as @Kallystouch, for describing him (Davido) as the third biggest musician in the Nigerian music industry.
Commenting on the photos Davido posted of himself in Dubai on Sunday, the barber wrote, “The only 3rd man in the music industry 003.”
Dissatisfied with Okolie’s description of him, the singer quickly responded by saying “@kallystouch I have saved your picture. I would have come to Abuja, and you would have cut my hair that is almost finished, but you like social media.”
He added that the barber had missed his “generation’s blessing” because he (Davido) sponsored his last three barbers in opening their salons.
“My last three barbers, I opened shops for them. That is how you missed your generation’s blessing”, he added.
Taking another swipe at Davido on Monday, Okolie who tweets as @Kallystouch on X.com responded with a video of one of his customers he gave a nice haircut, stating that Davido had missed an opportunity to have a haircut from the best barber in the FCT.
He wrote, “Davido just missed the opportunity to have a haircut from the best barber in Abuja.”
In another viral video he posted on X.com, Okolie blasted Davido for his response. He insisted that for him, Wizkid remains the biggest musician in the Nigerian music industry.
He added that Davido was not his helper and that he was not seeking help from anybody.
“FC does not beg, write it down, FC does not beg. Wizkid remains my 001 in the music industry, no cap. I did not say that to hurt anyone or to pull anybody down. Again, there is a statement Davido made that he was coming to Abuja and I would have been his barber, I would have been the person to cut his hair, how?”, he wrote.
He added, “Do you know me before that I would have been your barber? If not for my comment would you have replied to me? Let’s be realistic, do you know me before? You don’t know me before? FC is number one. Apart from that, I’m not begging anybody, Davido is not my helper, because whoever will help me will not stress me, Portable has said it before.”
This is the second time in less than a week that the singer would be coming under fire on social media.
Recall that on April 29, 2024, Wizkid set microblogging site, X.com, on fire when he took swipes at Davido and Don Jazzy.
As a result of the controversial tweet, Wizkid trended as number 4 on Nigeria’s X trends.
During exchanges with his followers, Wizkid mocked Davido for his recently leaked viral video where he was seen on his knees crying and begging someone believed to be a female associate. (PUNCH)
