A youth identified as a student of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State and three others arrested last year in separate locations in Aguata Local Government Area of the state are yet to be found.

This is coming as allegation of organ harvest is rocking the Anambra Police.

Some police cops at the Rapid Response Squad, Annexe, formerly Awkuzu SARS, and Zone 13 Headquarters, Ukpo, had been fingered to be involved in alleged illegal detention, kidnappings, extrajudicial killings and human organ harvesting by a whistleblower.

Parents of the victims, who were in Awka, during a stakeholders meeting of media and Civil Society Groups, under the auspices of Anambra State Police Stakeholders Partnership Forum lamented that their children, arrested by police operatives were yet to be found one year after

The men, Mr Titus Orji and Gilbert Obinwa alleged that police operatives were reluctant in assisting them trace their wards whereabouts.

Narrating his ordeal, Orji said his only son, Jeremiah, a student of Federal Polytechnic, Oko left his off-campus lodge after receiving a call at about 9pm, but never returned.

He said,“This happened on 19 March 2022. He was my only son, and we have looked for him everywhere. Some people in his area told us that some security men carrying guns were seen that night, close to his lodge, forcing him into a white bus.”

Also speaking, Gilbert Obinwa said: “I was at home on April 24, 2022, when some policemen invaded my compound in Ekwulọbịa and arrested my son. As they were leaving, a boy who was working with my son came in with the Okada man who brought him, and they arrested both of them and left.

“They didn’t tell me what their offence was, or where they were taking them to. I have been to every known police station since then looking for them, to no avail.

“We engaged a tracker, who showed that the boys are being kept in a certain location in Nteje community, and we involved the police, but they told us that thr area is dangerous, and that they won’t go.”

Meanwhile, Coordinators of the Anambra State Police Partnership Forum, Mr Okechukwu Nwanguma and Mr Chris Azor decried activities of certain elements in the police.

Nwanguma in his address said: “We are shocked that the crude method of policing, which led to the #EndSARS protest is still with us. If this continues, what we will see next will make #EndSARS look like a joke.

“We are still aware of the detention of a whistleblower who gave information about the activities of some top police officers in Anambra.

“As we speak, the whistleblower is in detention, but the officers were not even suspended for investigation to go on, untampered with.”

Nwanguma, Executive Director, Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre, RULAAC called on Inspector General of Police, Baba Akali, to ensure thorough investigation of the allegations of organ harvesting and rights violations against the two police formations in the State.

Alleged Coup Plot: Politicians, Military Officers from Southern, Northern Nigeria under investigation

Nigeria’s political and military circles are on edge following emerging reports of an alleged coup plot targeting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

There are reports that investigations are underway involving both military officers and prominent politicians from the country’s southern and northern regions.

The Defence Headquarters recently disclosed the arrest of 16 military officers for what it termed “unprofessional conduct.” However, multiple sources suggest the detentions may be tied to a broader inquiry into a suspected plan to destabilise the country during its Independence Day celebrations this month.

Among those detained are senior officers positioned in key strategic formations. The Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) is reportedly leading the investigation, with operational support from all three branches of the Nigerian Armed Forces. The scope of the probe is said to extend beyond the military, encompassing civilian actors suspected of complicity.

PRNigeria gathers that a prominent southern politician is under scrutiny for allegedly financing the purported coup attempt. Some of the individuals being investigated are believed to have affiliations with royal families and influential political dynasties, raising concerns about the scale and depth of the suspected conspiracy.

Although no formal charges have been filed, sources confirm that surveillance and interrogations are ongoing to determine the extent of each suspect’s involvement. The identities of the detained officers remain undisclosed, but insiders reveal that they span across various military services.

Security agencies are maintaining heightened alert levels amid the fluid situation, with efforts focused on preempting any threats to national stability.

Meanwhile, PRNigeria notes a departure from precedent: unlike previous high-profile security incidents often broken by international media, no credible foreign news outlet has independently verified the alleged arrests or coup plot. This absence of external confirmation has fueled skepticism around the narrative.

Security insiders suggest that some of the detained officers may have been questioned over internal disciplinary issues such as promotion stagnation and welfare grievances. Attempts to link these administrative matters to a coup plot remain speculative and unsupported by concrete evidence.

As of now, the alleged coup attempt has not been officially confirmed. Until the Nigerian military or government issues a formal statement, the claims should be regarded as unverified and treated with caution.

This unfolding development continues to raise critical questions about cohesion within Nigeria’s political and military institutions, and its potential implications for the country’s democratic stability. (PRNigeria)

Terrorists have killed the Commanding Officer of the 202 Tank Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Saidu Paiko, along with several soldiers in Borno State.

The officer paid the supreme price following a fierce confrontation with Boko Haram insurgents in the Kashimri area of Bama Local Government Area, Borno State.

The development has been confirmed by the Nigerian Army.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Major Appolonia Anele, troops of Operation Hadin Kai successfully repelled a planned terrorist attack but suffered heavy casualties in the process.

“Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation HADIN KAI, under the 21 Special Armoured Brigade, on October 17, 2025, thwarted an attempted assault by Boko Haram terrorists around the Kashimri general area.

“Unfortunately, the encounter came at a cost, as the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Saidu Paiko, and a few other gallant soldiers paid the supreme price,” the statement read.

Major Anele explained that the troops engaged the insurgents in intense combat, neutralising several fighters and destroying multiple terrorist hideouts in the region.

The operation, she said, prevented what could have been a devastating attack on civilians and critical infrastructure.

“The troops’ bravery frustrated the terrorists’ plans to disrupt peace and socio-economic activities in Bama and surrounding communities.

Some of the fleeing terrorists sustained gunshot wounds as our forces maintained operational dominance,” she added.

The Army spokesperson described the fallen officers as heroes who sacrificed their lives to protect the sovereignty and stability of Nigeria, assuring that their legacies would never be forgotten.

“The Nigerian Army deeply mourns these courageous men. Their sacrifices embody the spirit of service and patriotism.

“We will continue to honour their memory as we intensify efforts to eradicate terrorism from our nation,” Major Anele stated.

She further noted that the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, describing them as “fathers, brothers, and sons who showed exceptional courage in the face of danger.”

Oluyede reaffirmed the military’s unwavering resolve to sustain the offensive against all terrorist elements until lasting peace is achieved in the North-East and across the country.

The Army also urged the public and media outlets to refrain from circulating images of the fallen soldiers until their next of kin have been properly informed, in order to preserve their dignity and respect their families’ privacy.
