Presenting the certificates on Tuesday in Enugu, the Chairman of ENSIEC, Prof. Christian Ngwu, congratulated them and said that issuance of the certificate of return was a necessary statutory document needed to be presented to the winners.

“I congratulate you all for the success recorded and wish you well in your tenure as helmsmen in your various council areas,” he said.

“The issuance of the certificates marks the official beginning of the chairmen’s tenure, ushering in a new era of local governance for the state”.

The chairmen, all members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, expressed their gratitude for the trust placed in them by the people of Enugu and pledged to work tirelessly for the betterment of their communities.

One of the newly-elected chairmen, Chief Chijioke Ezugwu, who assumes leadership of the Uzo Uwani Local Government Area, in his acceptance speech, pledged to expand upon the state’s current agricultural initiatives, expanding livelihood and empowerment opportunities for his constituents.

He reemphasized his commitment to the “people-oriented” approach of Governor Peter Mbah.

Ezugwu expressed his intention to make Uzo Uwani a top contender in Internally Generated Revenue by the end of his first tenure.

The Uzo Uwani Chair, in line with other elected officials, also promised to stay closely connected to his community, while sharing in the joys and challenges of his people.

“The state’s chairmen are tasked with the responsibility of bridging the gap between local government and community members, as well as creating a culture of trust and transparency in their local governance. The challenges ahead are many, but the people of Enugu State have placed their faith in us to bring about positive change and a brighter future,” Ezugwu said.

Aka Eze Aka, the newly-elected chairman of the Udenu Local Government Area, is also poised to take the helm and make his mark on the local governance of Enugu State.

As one of the 17 chairmen to receive a certificate of return from ENSIEC, Aka joins a cadre of dedicated leaders tasked with transforming their communities.

While not much is known about his specific plans or policy positions, his presence among the chairmen-elect suggests a strong commitment to public service and a belief in the potential for positive change.

“Enugu State is buzzing with optimism and excitement in the wake of the local government elections, as we the newly-elected chairmen take our seats and begin the process of shaping the future of their respective communities,” Aka said.
