Saint Obi’s family defends his wife

The family of Mr. Obinna Nwafor, the Nollywood actor popularly known as Saint Obi who passed on recently, has defended his widow, Lynda, stating that she was a good wife to their son while he was alive.

In a statement signed by the deceased’s elder sisters, Edith Chinyere Obichuku and Freda Nwachukwu, the family said the article written by Zik Zulu Okafor on Saint Obi’s demise portrayed Lynda in an unfair and most defamatory manner.

Okafor had in the article which has gone viral on social media blamed Saint Obi’s passage on his soured nuptial ties with Lynda.

He reported that Saint Obi had to relocate to Jos, Plateau State from Lagos sad and sickly after his marriage broke down irretrievably.

According to Okafor, the most saddening to Saint Obi was not being allowed custody of his three beautiful children who loved, cherished and desired to be with him.

Okafor further reported that Lynda’s relations besides tagging Saint Obi a gold digger for marrying their wealthy sister also attacked and inflicted on him a knife cut after scaling the fence of their Lagos residence.

He further reported that Lynda even had to sue for divorce in Ogun State while she and Saint Obi resided in Lagos to make appearances in court for the thespian difficult.

The Saint Obi family said it viewed the article by Okafor as sad and most unfortunate, stressing that it was not written with its consent or authority.

As a result, the family dissociated itself from the article and urged the public not to exacerbate its grief by cooking up salacious details about the family.

Late Saint Obi hailed from Umuezealaeze, Alaenyi Ogwa Community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.

He died at the age of 57 years.

Granville, the chairperson of the Advisory Committee on Arts and Entertainment, died on Thursday, September 21, 2023.

Before his death, the ‘Tinsel’ actor was a multi-faceted artiste of many talents. He was an actor, a songwriter, musician, and filmmaker.

Some of the movies he was involved in were ‘Last Flight To Abuja’, ‘Impossible Relationships’, ‘Dowry Man’ and a soon-to-be-released movie ‘Locked’.

IGP orders Lagos CP to investigate Mohbad’s death

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, has directed Lagos Commissioner of Police to initiate a swift and comprehensive investigation into the death of singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba aka MohBad.

This directive was conveyed during a brief discussion at the Police Airwing Hangar, Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday.

He tasked the CP to quickly and effectively unravel the truth behind the tragedy as there have been understandable concerns and speculations surrounding the circumstances of his untimely demise.

A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi explained: “Nigeria Police Force hereby earnestly urges any family members or close associates possessing valuable information pertaining to this case to come forward and cooperate with the Lagos State Police Command to ensure that justice is served and the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s demise are thoroughly examined”.

Renowned content creator Bukunmi Adeaga Ilori aka KieKie has said she was a live-in girlfriend before she got married to Tunji Ilori.

She said she made the decision because her house rent expired months before their wedding and saw no reason to renew it.

The mother of one disclosed this while featuring as a guest in the latest episode of the TokeMoments podcast hosted by Toke Makinwa.

She said: “My husband and I started living together before we got married because my [house] rent was already due. My rent was due in September, and we were going to get married in January. So, I can’t renew my rent. And we had done our introduction by then. The church wasn’t aware that we were already living together. I was even singing in the church choir then.”

She said she was initially scared of getting married but eventually did after a series of prayers.
